I still can't believe how dumb I was. I finally made my dream job and all I had to do was pack up my things and move from my household's house in Macon, Georgia, to my new home in Mountain View, California. Continue reading as I communicate my tale of woe, remembering that all of my injuries were self-inflicted. Ideally, you'll gain from my many mistakes.
Cellular Remorse
If only I had taken the time to update my forwarding address at the exact same time, I would've conserved myself a lot of stress. I had not upgraded my cell phone agreement to reflect my new residence. Please don't tell my brand-new task how bad I am at mathematics.
Stuck in the '90s
As soon as we got here at the brand-new location, there was another huge issue. I had not kept in mind to turn on the power at my new residence. I got hit with California roaming charges the whole time I was waiting for the magical look of the cable television guy.
The Fuzz
Speaking of bills, I totally forgot to change my forwarding address. That meant that my credit card bill didn't arrive. I got hit with late charges for it. I could have quickly prevented this error by registering for paperless service. That wasn't my only change-of-address error, either. I got pulled over by a California policemans. He pointed out that my license plate wasn't updated. Then, he pointed out that I had an out-of-state motorist's license and registration. When you change states of residence, all three of those documents require upgrading. I needed to pay a $175 ticket and after that over $500 for the brand-new licenses. Since I got a new job doesn't mean I'm made of money, just. Why do the cops not know this? As soon as I lastly got sensible to the reality that I required to upgrade whatever, I also tried to update my vehicle insurance. Would you believe they wouldn't let me in the beginning?! I needed to send them a whole tree's worth of documentation in order to encourage them I 'd moved. Then, they notified me that I 'd need to pay more for insurance coverage in a higher danger state. Also, I 'd have to pay more until my car passed the California emissions test. Think what? It didn't! My precious 1996 very American muscle vehicle is too much of a gas guzzler to pass the environmentally-focused state emissions test. I'm going to have to pay more up until I purchase a new vehicle. What have I learned from my experience? Literally one hour of preparation might have conserved me lots of time and thousands of dollars. All I had to do was update all my forwarding information, remedy my billing information and website cellular phone agreement, and inform my insurer about the modifications. Another hour or so at the California Department of Motor Vehicles would've remedied all my license and registration concerns. Considering that I didn't do this, I needed to spend several days at a dive motel, got mocked mercilessly by my pal, and lost a great deal of cash I could've invested in new furnishings for my brand-new house phone.
